Day 1: We’ll meet you with a warm welcome at Bogotá Airport and help you settle into the unique vibe of this cool city. Join us for an orientation dinner and enjoy a good night’s sleep.
Day 2: Domestic flight to Bucaramanga! Then, we’ll meet our driver and travel to Los Santos and the red rock cliffs of La Mojarra, an amazing climbing location. Get acquainted with the rocks and take in the views of the green valley below. Enjoy dinner and sleep in beautiful, cozy cabins at Refugio La Roca.
Days 3-4: Wake early and take full advantage of your location! Enjoy picturesque climbing on the stunning red rocks for 2 full days. Unwind and stretch those muscles in the yoga house each evening and enjoy hearty meals and a comfy bed.

Day 5-6: Today, we will travel to San Gil, so fuel up with a big breakfast. We’ll have lunch when we arrive, then head out for a fun afternoon activity of your choice, like underground cave exploring, cliff jumping, class V thrills rafting on the Río Suarez, or if weather permits, paraglide over the spectacular Chicamocha Canyon.
Day 7: After breakfast, we’ll pack up and get on the road to Florian, a 5-hour scenic drive through mountain roads. Feel free to explore the picturesque waterfalls and caves filled with stalactites once we arrive at this oasis. Your climbing guide will introduce you to the best routes so you can start to figure out the funky technique needed to succeed on these rare stalactite climbs.
Day 8: Chalk up and get busy on this full day of remarkable climbing in Florian. We’ll cheer you on to keep the stoke high and get some sweet photos as you style your way to up to the chains. Guaranteed your friends back home will be impressed when you share this unique set of photos climbing amongst the stalactites of Florian.

Day 9: Still working on a project in Florian? Send another route on your ticklist before we travel south to Suesca, the oldest developed climbing area in Colombia. It’s another 5-hour drive, but the impressive cliffs are well worth it. Study the local guidebook on the drive, and your guide will take you to explore the rocks and show you the best routes when you arrive. Enjoy a hearty dinner and rest up, ready for tomorrow.
Day 10-11: Climb, climb, and climb some more! Fall in love with Suesca and enjoy a mix of sport, trad, and multi-pitch rock climbs as you mingle with climbers and tourists alike who come to Suesca to enjoy nature and relax away from Bogotá.

Day 12-13: Today, we set our sights on Machetá! Test your resistance on the long, steep routes, some of which require 80-meter ropes and lots of quickdraws. We’ve got you covered with all the right gear and words of encouragement to help you send your proudest projects on these challenging walls.
Day 14: Flexible final day to enjoy a few more routes at either Machetá or Suesca — the choice is yours. After conquering those final rocks, we’ll head back to Bogotá for a farewell dinner and celebration party! Get spruced up and join us for a final hoorah.
Day 15: Breakfast and pack up for transportation to your hotel in Bogotá, or the airport.

* Excluding personal climbing gear: shoes, helmet, harness, and belay device.

Overview of the Tour

This 15 day adventure climbing tour is specifically designed to showcase the best climbing areas in Colombia, while exploring the major cities of Bogota, Medellin, and a trip to the eje cafetera, or coffee growing region. In my opinion, no tour to Colombia is complete without experiencing the progressive city of Medellin, and the fertile green mountains and valleys around Salento, especially Valle Cocora.

So we will climb at Suesca – the birthplace of rock climbing in Colombia and home to many single pitch testpieces as well as adventurous multi-pitch climbing. The cliffs are covered in a wispy type of Spanish moss that waves in the wind and the area is frequented by Colombians enjoying vacation time and day trips outside of the bustling capital. Classic.

And we will climb at La Mojarra, a beautiful series of red sandstone cliffs that rim the edges of steep, green valleys stretching towards the horizon. VACATION VIBES staying at the well appointed eco lodge La Roca located mere steps above the cliffs. Private bungalows with stunning views over the rocks, and a peaceful yoga room perched high like a birdhouse above EVERYTHING. Nutritious meals, friendly staff, great place to unwind, forget the world, and CLIMB!

Florian – weather permitting – A beautiful waterfall cascades down the mountain, surrounded by cliffs with several developed climbing zones, including a magical CAVE with STALACTITES for practicing a bizarre and three dimensional style of climbing

Macheta – A recently developed high quality addition to the scene. A steep hike to the base of the cliff gets you ready to crank hard and give your full attention to the long routes and committing moves. In contrast to the challenges of the climbing, we stay down low in the valley at a lovely little hotel run by a beautiful and friendly Colombian family. They really know how to treat you right and provide so many little touches to make your stay restful and authentic and full of warmth. Delicious, healthy meals prepared in the open air kitchen, featuring amazing fresh fruit and robust coffee grown and roasted on site!

Sidetrip to San Gil to go Class V whitewater rafting on the world class Rio Suarez with Colombia’s best rafting company. Other daytrip options abound, such as paragliding above the Chicamocha Canyon. Downhill mountain biking on some of Colombia’s best single track. And caving/cliff jumping explorations!

Abejorral – La Pena -Regarded as the BEST rock climbing in the Medellin region and one of the most unique hotels anywhere in the country, La Casa en el Aire! Literally, suspended from the side of the cliffs overlooking the valley. A perfect place to spend a few days climbing AND get a chance to explore Medellin.

Salento – Cocora Valley –  Photographer’s dream hiking up to the top of the mountain at 3000m. The most green, lush and vibrant forest with foliage stretching in every direction and punctuated by the curiously tall wax palms. How does this landscape even exist??? If I died here I would be happy to give back every cell of my worldly body to the soil, to the trees, to the bugs and the birds in order to keep this landscape alive and fresh and green forever.

Best coffee in the world. Tejo! Explosive game involving copious amounts of booze and gunpowder!
